Hemolimfa

Hemolimfa, atau hemolimf, adalah cairan, serupa dengan darah pada vertebrata, yang bersirkulasi di bagian dalam tubuh artropoda (invertebrata), dan tetap bersentuhan langsung dengan jaringan hewan. Ini terdiri dari plasma cairan di mana sel-sel hemolimf yang disebut hemosit tersuspensi. Selain hemosit, plasma juga mengandung banyak bahan kimia. Ini adalah jenis jaringan utama dari sistem peredaran darah terbuka yang merupakan karakteristik artropoda (misalnya arakhnida, krustasea, dan serangga).[1][2] Selain itu, beberapa non-artropoda seperti moluska memiliki sistem peredaran darah hemolimfatik.

Sistem transportasi oksigen sudah lama dianggap tidak diperlukan pada serangga, namun ancestral dan fungsi hemocyanin telah ditemukan di hemolimf.[3] "Darah" serangga umumnya tidak membawa hemoglobin, meskipun hemoglobin mungkin ada di sistem trakea dan berperan dalam pernapasan.[4]
