Wolframit adalah sebuah mineral wolframat, mangan dan besi dengan rumus kimia (Fe,Mn)WO4 yang merupakan sebuah mineral intermediat antara ferberit (kaya akan Fe2+) dan hübnerit (kaya akan Mn2+).[4] Bersamaan dengan scheelit, wolframit dan mineral-mineral yang mirip dengannya menjadi mineral bijih wolfram yang paling penting. Wolframit dapat ditemukan di barik-barik kuarsa dan pegmatit yang berhubungan dengan batuan intrusif granitik.[5] Mineral yang berhubungan mencakup cassiterit, scheelit, bismut, kuarsa, pirit, galena, sfalerit dan arsenopirit.

Mineral ini ditemukan di Eropa, di Bohemia, Saxony, serta di Britania Raya, di Devon dan Cornwall. Cina dilaporkan memiliki cadangan bijih wolfram paling besar, dengan 60%.[6] Produsen lainnya ialah Spanyol, Kanada, Portugal, Rusia, Australia, Thailand, Korea Selatan, Rwanda, Bolivia, Amerika Serikat, dan Republik Demokratik Kongo.[7]
