Alcher (en arabe الجزائر al-Jaza'ir, literalment "as Islas"; en francés y grafía etimolchica Alger) ye a capital y a ciudat mas gran d'Alcheria. D'alcuerdo con o censo de l'anyada 1998, a población d'a ciudat yera d'1.519.570 habitants, anque a suya aria metropolitana teneba 2.135.630.
