Curcuma longa
Linnaeus, 1753

A curcuma[1] (nombre cientifico Curcuma longa (Linnaeus, 1753)[2]) ye una planta d'a orden d'os Zingiberales y familia Zingiberaceae que ye nativa d'o subcontinent indio y d'o sud-este asiatico, requiere temperaturas entre 20 y 30 °C y altas precipitacions anyals pa prosperar. Cada anyo se replegan plantas per os suyos rizomas, cualques pa la suya propagación en a temporada siguient y atras pa consumo.

Os rizomas se fan servir frescos u bullius en augua y ixucaus, dimpués d'o cual se muelen dica obtener un polvo de color amariella anaranchada intensa que se fa servir comunament como colorete y aromatizant en muitas cocinas asiaticas, especialment pa lo curry, asinas como per as caracteristicas de tintau que imparte lo prencipal component d'a curcuma, a curcumina.
