Una lata[1][nota 1] ye un trallo, una lama u cualsiquier atro tipo de palo de madera que se troba disposau horizontalment u transversal, tot fendo parte d'una estructura mayor, con a función de dar consistencia mecanica y refirmar a dita estructura.

Ye un denominador común de piezas que fan parte d'estructuras muit diferents. Por eixemplo, son latas as traviesas d'os bastes y as d'as samugas (aparellos d'os abríos), os trallos que se clava transversals d'entre os costalers d'un tellau a on se refirma os canyizos u l'entarabidau, tamién os palos largos y horizontals que unen os percullos d'una cleta, etc.
