Linux ye un nuclio de sistema operativo,[1] no cal confundir-lo con GNU/Linux que ye o ligallo d'o nuclio mas bels programas liberaus baixo a licencia GPL.

Iste nuclio puet ser executau en muitas trazas de maquinas, como por eixemplo ordinadors personals, servidors, PDAs, Routers y atras muitas arquitecturas.

Iste prochecto naixió d'un estudiant finlandés d'a Universidat de Helsinki, Linus Torvalds en 1990, que mirando-se con atro prochecto (GNU) y que iste amenistaba un nuclio, Linus liberó Linux baixo a GPL.[2]

Actualment existen muitas distribucions de GNU/Linux totas con os suyos seguidors y os suyos criticadors; eixemplos d'istas serían: Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, openSuse, Knoppix, GLUZ (d'a Universidat de Zaragoza)[3], y muitas mas dica una que se fizo en Aragón: Augustux.[4]
