Un virus[1] (d'o latín virus, "toxina" u "vereno") ye un achent infeccioso submicroscopico que ye incapaz de creixer u reproducir-se si no ye aintro d'una celula huespede. Os virus infectan toz os tipos de vida celular. O primer virus conoixito, lo virus d'o mosaico d'o tabaco, fue descubierto por Martinus Beijerinck en 1899,[2] y actualment se'n conoix mas de 5.000 tipos diferents.[3] O estudio d'os virus recibe o nombre de virolochía, y ye una branca d'a microbiolochía.
