Los Apodiformes (del griegu a, "ensin" y podos, "pies") son un orde d'aves neognatas caracterizaes pol pequeñu tamañu de les pates, lo que da nome al orde. Conócense 438 especies.[1]

Tradicionalmente, l'orde contuvo a trés families: los vencejos y salanganes (familia Apodidae), los vencejos arborícoles (familia Hemiprocnidae) y los colibríes o picaflores (Trochilidae)

Na taxonomía de Sibley-Ahlquist, los colibríes tán dixebraos de los Apodiformes como un nuevu orde (Trochiliformes); sicasí, los colibríes y vencejos tienen ente sigo semeyances anatómiques y diversos autores nun acepten dicha separación.[1][2]
