Benedict John Greenwood (31 de xunetu de 1969, Windsor), más conocíu como Ben Chaplin, ye un guionista, actor de teatru, actor de cine, actor de televisión y actor británicu. Participó en películes como The Truth About Cats and Dogs (1996), The Thin Red Line (1998) o Murder by Numbers (2002).[2]

Biografía

Vida temprana

Ben Chaplin, con cuatro hermanos, nació en Londres, Reinu Xuníu, fíu de Cynthia (profesora d'arte dramático) y Peter Greenwood (inxenieru).[3][4] El so apellíu, Chaplin, provién del apellíu de soltera de la so madre. Creció en Windsor, Berkshire, Reinu Xuníu y asistió y cursó los sos estudios na Hurtwood House y na reputada Guildhall School of Music and Drama.[5]

Carrera

Ben Chaplin llogró'l so primer papel importante cola comedia The Truth About Cats and Dogs (1996), protagonizada por Janeane Garofalo.[2] Sicasí'l so primer gran papel llograr cola cinta dirixida por Terrence Malick The Thin Red Line (1998), protagonizada por Sean Penn, Adrien Brody o John Cusack y que foi nomada a siete Óscar y siendo sofitada pola crítica.[6][7] El so últimu papel relevante na década de los años 90 foi'l thriller Lost Souls (2000), xunto a Winona Ryder.

Yá na década de los años 2000 protagonizó Murder by Numbers (2002), con Sandra Bullock y empobinada pol respetáu direutor Barbet Schroeder. Tamién intervieno en cintes como Chromophobia (2005) na qu'apaecíen Penélope Cruz o Ralph Fiennes; la fracasada The New World (2005) que protagonizó Colin Farrell o Me and Orson Welles (2008) con Zac Efron y que nun foi estrenada en cines en numberosos países.[8][9] Coles mesmes apaeció na fallida versión de Dorian Gray (2009), al qu'encarnaba Ben Barnes. En 2010 participó en tres películes, London Boulevard (2010) na que comparte cartelu con Keira Knightley y Colin Farrell; Ways to Live Forever (2010) y Owl Song (2010) con Nieve Campbell.[2]
