Un bit (acurtiáu b) ye la unidá más pequeña d'información que s'emplega n'informática y teoría de la información. Un solu bit val uno o cero, verdadero o falso, enceso o apagao. Vien a ser l'equivalente a contestar "sí" o "non" a una pregunta (la respuesta más cenciella posible).
