Caldea[1][2] ye'l nome col que se conoció na Antigüedá a la rexón allugada na baxa Mesopotamia, al establecese nella los caldeos. Posteriormente esta denominación espardióse a toda a rexón de Babilonia, anque correutamente ha de llamase Caldea a la zona estrema suroriental de la parte meridional de la conca del Éufrates y del Tigris, próxima a los desiertos d'Arabia. El términu 'caldea' remanez del llatín Chaldaeus, esti al empar del griegu antiguu Χαλδαῖος, y esti, finalmente, del acadiu kaldû.
