Heliothinae ye una pequeña subfamilia de poliyes perteneciente a la familia Noctuidae. Tien una 400 especies distribuyíes a lo ancho del mundu. Atópense predominantemente nes árees semiárides subtropicales.[1]

Taxonomía

La subfamilia foi estudiada estensivamente. Importantes trabayos inclúin estudios de Hardwick (1965 and 1970) and Matthews (1988).

Carauterístiques

La definición más fiable de la subfamilia a tópase nes canesbes. (Hardwick y Matthews). Estes tienen una piel espinosa y una disposición tresversal en forma de cogordes en L1 y L2 nel protórax.

Carauterístiques de los adultos, que son más o menos esclusives d'esta subfamilia, son los xenitales masculinos que s'allargaron (Hardwick, 1970).

Alimentación

La subfamilia produz una serie de plagues graves pa los cultivos.

Xunto con Stiriinae, la mayoría de los miembros d'esta subfamilia aliméntense de granes y flores (Matthews, 1988).
