Una imaxe (del llatín imago) ye una representación visual d'un oxetu per aciu de téuniques estremaes de diseñu, pintura, fotografía, videu.

En matemátiques, una imaxe d'una función f ye'l conxuntu d'elementos y pa los cualos esiste un elementu x tal que y=f(x).

En física la imaxe óptica d'un oxetu ye la proyeición de los puntos de la superficie visible del oxetu sobro un planu.

N'informática pue tener dos significaos:

  • una imaxe pue ser un ficheru codificáu que, al abrilu, amuesa una representación visual de daqué (yá seya fotografía, gráfica, dibuxu, etc.)
  • tamién pue ser un ficheru nel cualu ta tola información d'una unidá (discu duru, CD...). Esti ficheru pue usase como «molde» pa configurar nuevos ordenadores ensin tener que realizar tolos procesos d'instalación d'un sistema nuevu y a la so vegada sirve como copia de seguridá de los datos d'esi ordenador enantes de realizar dalguna operación sobre elli.
