Lhasa (en tibetanu: ལྷ་ས་, en chinu simplificáu: 拉萨, en chinu tradicional: 拉薩 y en pinyin: Lāsà), ye la capital del Tíbet, na República Popular China asitiada na meseta tibetana arrodiada pelos montes del Himalaya. Cuenta con una población de 867 891 habitantes (2020)[1][2]. Alcuéntrase a una altitú de 3.650 metros sobre'l nivel de la mar, nel valle del ríu Brahmaputra siendo la segunda ciudá más alta d'Asia y una de les más altes del mundu, tanto que la cantidá d'oxíxenu disponible ye namái un 68% del disponible a nivel de la mar.
La ciudá ye la sede tradicional de los lames y llugar u s'atopen los palacios de Potala, Norbulingka y el Templu de Jokhang,Patrimoniu de la Humanidá y consideráu pol budismu tibetanu como'l centru más sagráu nel Tíbet.
Lhasa quier dicir "llugar de los Dioses", anque antiguos documentos tibetanos ya inscripciones demostraron que hasta principios del sieglu VII el llugar llamábase Rasa, que significa "llugar de cabra".
