Mecocerculus hellmayri,[2] ye una especie qu'integra'l xéneru Mecocerculus, de la familia Tyrannidae. Esta ave distribúise nel centru-oeste d'América del Sur.

Monte montiegu en Les Xuntes, provincia de Catamarca, Arxentina; ecosistema carauterísticu d'esta especie.
Monte de pinu del cuetu (Podocarpus parlatorei); ecosistema carauterísticu d'esta especie.

Distribución y hábitat

Estiéndese dende'l norte de Puno, nel Perú, pasando por Bolivia, hasta'l noroeste de l'Arxentina.[3][4]

Habita nel estratu alto y medio de cantos de selves y montes montiegos en montes y sierres. L'ecosistema carauterísticu ye'l correspondiente al distritu fitoxeográficu del Monte Montano de la provincia fitoxeográfica de les Yungas, en montes apoderaos pol omeru del cuetu (Alnus acuminata) y el pinu del cuetu (Podocarpus parlatorei), esta última especie arbórea apúrre-y el so nome común.

Taxonomía

Esta especie monotípica describióse orixinalmente por Hans von Berlepsch en el año 1907, sol mesmu nome científicu. La so llocalidá tipu ye: «Cocapata, Cochabamba, Bolivia».[5]
