Mirra
La mirra[1] (del llatín myrrha, y ésti del griegu μύῤῥα) ye una sustancia resinoso arumosa. Llógrase faciendo una incisión na corteza del árbol Commiphora myrrha, de la cual exuda una resina gomosa, de color mariellu que al ensugase tien formes irregulares y tonalidá pardu-acoloratada.
Bien valorada na antigüedá, yá que yera unu de los componentes pa la ellaboración d'arumes, inciensu,[2] untaces, medicines y p'esleir tinta nos papiros. Usábase tamién para embalsamar a los muertos.[3]
Según la tradición cristiana la mirra ye unu de los regalos que los Magos ufiertaron al neñu Xesús[4] na Epifanía.
La mirra, en dómina del imperiu romanu, yera usada como anestésicu pa los morrebundos o los condergaos a muerte y solíase dar entemecida con vinu.[5]
La gomorresina utilizóse tamién como estimulante y tónicu, y na actualidá emplégase como antisépticu n'enxagües bucales y dentífrico, ente otros.
