Hai diferentes menes d'oculares:

- Oculares ñegativos: Participen na formación de la imaxe primaria y poro, nun sirven de llupa.

- Oculares positivos: Aumenten la imaxe por sí sola. La imaxe primaria namái la forma l'oxetivu, darréu d'esto sirven como llupa.

- Compensadores: Corrixen dalguna aberración.

- De midida: Incorporen rexes graduaes pa midir el tamañu de les partícules observaes.
