SIMBAD (sigles del inglés Set of Indications, Measurements, and Bilbliography for Astronomical Data) ye una base de datos astronómica d'oxetos que s'atopen más allá del Sistema Solar. Ta caltenida pol Centre de Données astronomiques de Strasbourg (CDS), Francia.

Historia

SIMBAD creóse pola fusión del Catálogu d'Identificaciones Estelares (Catalog of Stellar Identifications, CSI) y l'Índiz Bibliográficu d'Estrelles (Bibliographic Star Index) qu'esistíen nel Centru Informáticu de Meudon en 1979, siendo darréu ampliada con datos procedentes d'otros catálogos y de la lliteratura científica. La primer versión interactiva, conocida como la Versión 2, tuvo disponible en 1981. La Versión 3, desenvuelta en llinguaxe C y en funcionamientu n'estaciones UNIX del Observatoriu d'Estrasburgu, foi presentada en 1990. 2006 supunxo'l llanzamientu de la Versión 4 de la base de datos, anguaño guardada en PostgreSQL, y del software de soporte, güei escrita dafechu en Java.
