Saltillo ye la capital del estáu mexicanu de Coahuila. Ta situada al sureste del estáu, a 90 km al oeste de Monterrey y a 400 km al sur de la frontera colos Estaos Xuníos. En 2005 tenía una población de 663.667 habitantes y l'área metropolitana de la ciudá, qu'incluyía otros conceyos, tien una población total de 752.529.
Saltillo fundóse nel 1577 por colonizadores españoles; ye la ciudá más antigua del norte de Méxicu. En 1824 designóse como capital del Estáu de Coahuila y Texas; y en 1833 de Coahuila dempués de que Texas s'escindiere. La ciudá entamó a desendolcase económicamente nel sieglu XX y anguaño ye una de les ciudaes más riques del norte. Les principales industries de la ciudá son la d'electrodomésticos y la del automóvil; en Saltillo alcuéntrense les plantes de Daimler-Chrysler y de General Motors d'América del Norte.
