Conozse como slang a la xíriga de rexistru coloquial ya informal usada nel idioma inglés.

Parafrasiando a otru autor, The Slang Thesaurus espón que: «El principal estímulu del slang ye'l sexu, dineru y el llicor». A lo que puede amestase munchos otros aspeutos cotidianos de la vida diaria, emociones y de rellaciones sociales.

Ente dellos exemplos de slang nel inglés d'Estaos Xuníos tán:

  • Pa referise a un home: dulde, guy (de Guy Fawkes), brother* (usar les pallabres "sister" o "brother" de normal ye pa referise a los meyores amigos o amigues na cultura afroamericana, pero inda son pallabres pocu populares fora d'esta cultura).
  • Pa referise a una muyer: babe (la pallabra "babe" de normal ta usada pa una chica si ye curiosa), chick, dudette, sister"*
  • Pa referise a la muerte: big sleep , end of the line , bought the farm, kick the bucket, pushing up daises, etc.
  • Adictu a les drogues: junkie, pothead (alquien que fuma mariguana o ḥaxís) , druggie, etc.
  • Pa referise a la cabeza: noggin, bean (RU), etc.
  • "That's bad!" (¡Eso ye malu!)-una frase pasada de moda que solía significar lo opuesto, significa agora que daqué ye estupendu.
  • Pa referise a un meyor amigu, de normal pa referise a un home o un mozu namái: Bud, Buddy.
