Sofía[3] (en búlgaru София) ye la capital y el centru industrial y cultural de Bulgaria. Ta allugada nel oeste del país.

Historia

Sofía ye la tercera capital más vieya d'Europa, habitada dende'l sieglu XVIII e.C. Orixinalmente foi un asentamientu traciu. Los romanos diéron-y el nome de Serdica, faciéndola la capial de la Dacia Mediterránea.

Foi destruyida polos hunos en 447 y reconstruyida pol emperador bizantín Xustinianu I col nome de Triadica. Tres la invasión de los pueblos búlgaros el nome pasó a ser "Sredec", camudándolu pol definitivu Sofía en 1376.

En 1382 cayó baxo poder otomanu. Pasó a formar parte del pueblu búlgaru en 1878, convirtiéndose na capital del estáu modernu de Bulgaria.
