Sylvia Cantarada (24 d'avientu de 1958, Dundee – 18 d'avientu de 2019) ye una xeógrafa inglesa, y profesora de xeografía del desenvolvimientu na Escuela de Londres d'Economía y Ciencia Política[4][5] y ye direutora del Programa d'Urbanización y Programa de Desenvolvimientu LSE nel Departamentu de Xeografía y Ambiente[6]

Carrera

Llogró un BA pol King's College, Cambridge y el so PhD pol University College de Londres en 1984, cola defensa de tesis: Les Escaecíes: un estudiu de muyeres, allugaes y estructura familiar en Queretaro, Méxicu. Sylvia foi conferenciante en xeografía y n'estudios llatinoamericanos na Universidá de Liverpool, de 1987 a 1988, antes de xunise al LSE.

Contribuciones

Realizó investigaciones sobre xéneru y desenvolvimientusobremanera la "feminización de la probeza", los medios de subsistencia y l'empléu nes zones urbanes. Trabayó en Costa Rica, Méxicu, Filipines y Gambia. En Gambia trabayó apocayá na resistencia a la mutilación xenital femenina.[7]
