Tref a chymuned (comune) yn nhalaith Perugia yn rhanbarth Umbria, yr Eidal, yw Assisi (Lladin: Asisium). Mae ganddi boblogaeth o 26,196. Mae’n enwog fel man geni Sant Ffransis o Assisi a Santes Chiara o Assisi.

Sefydlwyd municipium Asisium gan y Rhufeiniaid ar lethrau Mynydd Subasio. Gellir gweld llawer o weddillion Rhufeinig yn y dref hyd heddiw. Trowyd trigolion y dref at Gristionogaeth yn 238 OC gan yr esgob Rufino. Yn 545 dinistriwyd rhan helaeth o’r dref gan yr Ostrogothiaid dan eu brenin Totila. Yn yr 11g daeth yn ddinas annibynnol, a bu llawer o ymladd rhyngddi hi a Periwgia. Dechreuodd ddirywio o ganlyniad i’r Pla Du yn 1348.

Ganed Sant Ffransis yma yn 1186. Yn fuan wedi i’r Eglwys Gatholig ei gyhoeddi yn sant yn 1228, dechreuwyd adeiladu Basilica San Francesco d'Assisi, yn cynnwys mynachlog Ffransiscaidd a dwy eglwys. Enwyd y basilica, sy’n cynnwys arlunwaith ffresco gan Cimabue a Giotto, yn Safle Treftadaeth y Byd gan UNESCO.

Effeithiwyd ar Assisi gan y ddaeargryn a darawodd Umbria yn 1997, a wnaeth lawer o ddifrod i adeiladau, ond ers hynny gwnaed llawer o waith adfer.
