Brochgi

Helgi sy'n tarddu o'r Almaen yw'r Brochgi[1] neu'r Dachsund (lluosog: Dachsunds).[1] Weithiau ar lafar yn Ne Cymru fe'i eliwir yn gi llathaid, ond gall yr enw hwn hefyd gyfeirio at y corgi.[2] Mae "Brochgi" yn gyfieithiad llythrennol o'r enw Almaeneg Dachshund: cafodd y brîd hwn ei ddatblygu i hela'r broch yn ei ddaear.[3] Er ei fod yn helgi, mae gan y Brochgi dras o grŵp y daeargwn[3] ac mae'n ymddwyn yn debyg i ddaeargi.[4]

Ci bywiog yw'r Brochgi sydd yn hir ei gorff gyda brest dwfn, coesau byrion, trwyn pigfan, a chlustiau hirion. Ceir dau faint – safonol a bach – a thri math o gôt – llathraidd, hirwallt, a gwrychog. Gan amlaf mae ganddo flew brown-goch neu felyn a du. Mae ganddo daldra o 18 i 25 cm (7 i 10 modfedd) ac yn pwyso 7 i 14.5 kg (16 i 32 o bwysau); mae'r ffurf fechan yn fyrach ac yn pwyso llai na 5 kg (11 o bwysau).[3]
