Yn 1932 damcanodd Ernst Julius Öpik fod comedau yng Nghysawd yr Haul yn ymffurfio mewn cwmwl o lwch a mater arall y tu hwnt i gylchdro'r blaned gorrach Plwton. Enwir y cwmwl hwnnw yn Gwmwl Oort (neu Cwmwl Öpik-Oort). Ystyrir Gwregys Kuiper, rhanbarth ar ffurf disg y tu hwnt i gylchdro Neifion rhyw 30-50 unedau seryddol o bellter oddi wrth yr Haul (sy'n cynnwys llawer iawn o gyrff rhewllyd bychain) fel tarddle comedau cyfnod byr.
