IUPAC yw'r corff rhyngwladol sy'n gyfrifiol am ddatblygu safonau cemegol. Mae'r enw yn dalfyriad o'r enw Saesneg International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry ac yn rhyngwladol defnyddir y talfyriad hwn neu'r talfyriad Ffrangeg UICPA (L'Union internationale de chimie pure et appliquée).
Crëwyd IUPAC fel corff annibynnol rhyngwladol ym 1919 gan gymdeithasau cemegol cenedlaethol nifer o wledydd. Ers hynny mae'r nifer o gymdaithasau cemegol sy'n rhan o IUPAC wedi cynyddu, ac mae IUPAC yn ceisio sicrhau cysondeb ymysg y termau ac unedau defnyddir gan yr holl wledydd hyn. Datblygodd system enwi systematig ar gyfer cemeg er mwyn hybu cemeg yn rhyngwladol, gyda'r rheolau ar gael i'w lawrlwytho yma. Mae IUPAC hefyd yn hybu'r defnydd o unedau safonol, gan pwysleisio sut gall cymysgu unedau fod yn broblem sylweddol i wyddoniaeth, ac roedd hwn yn amlwg pan gollwyd lloeren atmosfferig y blaned Mawrth.
