Ceirw yn bwydo ar laswellt

Anifail sydd wedi addasu ei gorff fel y gall fwyta rhannau o blanhigion, er enghraifft dail neu algâu morol planhigion yw llysysydd e.e. mae cwningod, benbyliaid, crancod, morgrug gwynion, ceffylau, coalas, ceirw a gwenyn yn llysysyddion. Ceir infertebratau hefyd e.e. gwyfynod, lindys, pryfaid genwair a malwod, a cheir ambell amffibiad a physgpd e.e. y penbwl ac ambell bysgodyn. Oherwydd hyn, mae rhanau o'u cyrff wedi esblygu ar gyfer y gwaith hwn e.e. mae dannedd llydan a fflat y ceffyl wedi'u siapio i dynnu ac yna malu'r glaswellt.

Mae gan ganran fawr o lysysyddion fflora perfedd cydymddibynnol (mutualistic) sy'n eu helpu i dreulio planhigion, sy'n fwy anodd ei dreulio na chig anifeiliaid. Mae'r fflora hwn yn cynnwys protosoaid neu facteria sy'n treulio seliwlos i planhigyn.[1][2]
