Teulu mawr a bron hollbresennol o blanhigion blodeuol unhadgibog yw Poaceae neu Gramineae o'r enw cyffredin glaswelltau hefyd gweiriau. Mae'n cynnwys y glaswelltau ŷd, y bambŵau, y glaswelltau o laswelltir naturiol a rhywogaethau a dyfir mewn lawntiau a phorfeydd. Cyfeirir yn dorfol at yr olaf fel glaswellt neu wair.

Mae'n cynnwys tua 10,000 o rywogaethau mewn tua 675 genws a 12 is-deulu.[1][2] Mae ganddynt flodau bach o'r enw blodigion wedi'u trefnu mewn tywysenigau (spikelets). Mae'r blodigion yn cael eu peillio gan y gwynt. Ceir y teulu ledled y byd ac mae glaswelltiroedd yn ffurfio tua 25% o lystyfiant y byd.[2] Mae'r teulu'n cynnwys yr ydau megis gwenith, indrawn a reis a chnydau eraill megis cansen siwgr.[2]
