Dyfeisiwyd y transistor gan y ffisegwyr Americanaidd John Bardeen, Walter Houser Brattain a William Shockley oedd yn gweithio i Bell Labs yn y 1950au. Enillodd y tri dyn Wobr Ffiseg Nobel ym 1956.
