Trwyth
Fel arfer, echdynnyn sylwedd planhigyn neu anifail a hydoddir mewn ethanol (alcohol ethyl) ydyw trwyth (neu tintur[1]). Mae crynodiadau hydoddydd o 25–60% yn gyffredin i drwythau, ond maent yn gallu bod mor grynodedig â 90%.[2] Mewn cemeg, mae trwyth yn doddiad sy'n cynnwys ethanol yn fel ei doddydd. Mewn llysieuaeth feddygol, gwneir trwythau alcoholig gyda gwahanol grynodiadau o ethanol, a ddylai gynnwys o leiaf 20% alcohol er mwyn eu cadw yn hirdymor.[2][3]
Yn y Gymraeg, y mae'r 'trwyth' Cymraeg hefyd yn gallu cyfeirio at infusion a decoction Saesneg. Fel arfer, mae infusions a decoctions yn defnyddio dŵr neu olew yn lle alcohol fel yr hydoddydd.
