The film was screened at and competed in the Festival des 3 Continents in Nantes, France, in 1984, in which it won the best picture award.[3][4] Conrado Baltazar won best cinematography for the film at the Gawad Urian in 1980 and was nominated at the Famas Award in the same year.[5]
The movie was remade in 2015 under the direction of Caparas and starred Andi Eigenmann.[3][6]
