To answer my own question I see the first tier are all early bands, the second tier are bands he led and thus leaving the third tier. Naked City is most often thought of a John Zorn and then guitar (Frith's forte) is Bill Frisell. Tiers one and two are for bands Frith led or was a founding member of, tier one being those bands he is best known for. I've removed "Collaborating artists" from the template. Frith has collaborated with many artists and even if we include only the prominent ones, it would still be a long list.
