@104.207.219.150: The article lacks proper inline citations, there are also some puffery texts in the article that needs to be fix (e.g., noted, talented, passed away, legacy, etc). Remove the comments after her discography, all we need to know is the list of albums she recorded, same for filmography. Hello fellow Wikipedian Editors: In the event that you have some free time kindly examine the new biographical articles Nestor Mesta Chayres and Juan Arvizu for a quality/importance assessment for the Wikiproject Latin Music. Each of these lyric tenors from Mexico achieved international acclaim interpreting the boleros of Agustín Lara and María Grever as well as the standard operatic repertoire and were held in high esteem both in North and South America as well as in Europe and new York during the 1930s and the 1940s. They also recorded extensively for RCA, RCA Victor, and Columbia Records in both North and South America with leading concert orchestras and radio orchestras including CBS. Juan Arvizu is credited with "discovering" the Mexican composer Agustín Lara in a café in Mexico and employing him as an accompanist on the piano. He is also recognized as one of the most successful recording artists on the RCA label of his time (credited with perfroming nearly 2,000 songs). The musical legacy of these two classically trained tenors has been archived for posterity on Archive.org as documented in the external links section (See: [1] and [2]
Enjoy and kindly accept my sincerest thanks in advance for your kind and thoughtful consideration. While that article is interesting, I'm not so sure about calling all of them "Latin subgenres", given that most of them are very different from each other and have a distinct history (like making a list of "Asian subgenres"). --CHUI372 (talk) 23:21, 6 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
-->

I added a video to the top of the Reggaeton article but I'm curious to know what you all think about it. Is it appropriate? Is it better suited elsewhere? I thought it suited the article because it's rapping in Spanish and Snoop Dogg is in it at the end. This was right before his murder trial. Do you like it? Should I edit the video some, remove parts? I've heard "Perreo" used a lot more to refere to the doggy-style reggaeton dance, more than "Sandungeo", the current article name. In fact, I'd never heard Sandungueo. If you see the article's talk page, someone thinks the article should be named "Perreo". Any ideas on this? Note: The page was originally named Perreo but it was moved in 2014. Lately, I've heard the dance referred to as "Perreo" a lot, even during the Telegramgate etc.--The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 03:30, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
-->

Dear Erick,
Happy New Year/Decade! Hope you are keeping well and looking forward to another year of wiki accomplishments. Personally, there are a few articles I want to create in the near future (such as those you requested quite some time ago now, for Ibrahim Ferrer albums), plus other Cuban music articles to improve where I can; so, watch this space!
This morning, I was editing the very short article on Oscar Hernández Falcón and noticed it didn't have a stub template. So, I immediately looked in Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types/Culture#Music and its sub-sections, and was surprised not to find a bulleted entry for Cuban music stubs, or the more general Latin music stubs.
I then looked around a bit but, since I didn't find what I was looking for, I finally googled "Wikipedia Cuban music stubs", and found some Category templates that way, but there does not seem to be a Wikipedia page for Category:Cuban music stubs (or even a more general Category:Latin music stubs), like there is a page for Category:Canadian music stubs.
Please forgive me for being so dense in my old age, as I am sure I am not the only editor who'd like to find such stubs but, when you have the time, please could you tell me if there might be another way of finding these stubs, other than by looking into Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types/Culture#Music?
Otherwise, would it be possible for you to launch a sub-project to add an entry there, like there is for the other countries, such as the example I gave above for Canadian music stubs? It seems to me that this might make it easier to find them.
Thank you for any help you could offer, and for your patience with my lack of experience in locating stubs in any other way than by consulting Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types. Of course, this is not urgent at all and can certainly wait.
With kind regards for now;

Many thanks, TEP; that link shows all the articles that relate to Cuba, listed by article class and including stub-class articles. I was looking for where all the ‘Cuban music’ stub templates are located, like this one: {{cuba-musician-stub}}. All the Canadian ones are located at the Category:Canadian music stubs page. Maybe there is a similar page for the Cuban music stubs, but I couldn’t find it. It’s kind of you to have intervened, though; thanks again.

Dear fellow editors,
I have now found Category:Cuban musician stubs (note musician, not music), which lists three templates at the top left hand side of the page:
Are these really the only ones we have for Cuban music? Many thanks to anyone who knows if there are any more, and where they might be located.

Thank you for your comment, but I don’t understand the connection between this tool and the apparent requirement for a Category:Cuban music stubs page. I don’t need to see the comparisons articles covered by the same WikiProjects, but simply to be able to find stub templates where similar ones are already located for other countries. Thank you, anyway.

The edit-a-thon would take place in Miami, Florida in late September. The reason I picked September is because it is Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States.
I would like to hear your thoughts and ideas on the proposed Latin music edit-a-thon. The last time an edit-a-thon dedicated to Latin music was done was in 2013, so I thought over the years so how it could be improved. I had kosboot to help me with who to reach for the proposed edit-a-thon. Thank you for taking your time to read this proposal! Just some additional thoughts. If you can come up with topics that have a sense of urgency or which people a large number of people will see as being urgent, that might increase interest. With March (Womens' History Month) coming up, I am reminded that editathons involving "correcting the historical record" by including more women nearly always create a lot of interest and net a lot of participants. Also, such an editathon expands possibilities by presumably functioning in both English and Spanish. Attendees might want to do English<=>Spanish translations. You might want to start creating lists of people, organizations, and topics to be created/enhanced. In planning for September, you are lucky in that you have lots of time to think up and implement ways to publicize the event, perhaps in local newsletters/social media. It would be really amazing if the Latin Grammy org could help with publicity. - kosboot (talk) 18:25, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-Magiciandude-2020-02-25T19:45:00.000Z-Kosboot-2020-02-25T18:25:00.000Z"]}}-->
@Kosboot:, Yes! And hopefully we can do the same for Portuguese as well. I just did a quick search on Google for Brazilian culture in Miami and came across the this. I might ask them within a month or two from event. I'm trying to brainstorm some activities the attendees can do for fun when they want to take a break from editing Wikipedia. I'm going to look at past edit-a-thons to try to convince the LGCF why they would be useful in participating in the event. One of the best editathons I've ever attended was Basquiat: Still Fly at 55 devoted to the artist. You can see from the images on Commons that it was a special event, enhanced by some brief talks, food, some background music, and an easy-going approach from all the participants, held at NYC's Museum of Modern Art's library (which has a homey feel). In other words, it had the right setting, but it was the interest and enthusiasm of the participants that made the event special. If through the Latin Grammys you can get a semi-important person to encourage the participants (who might come initially for the purpose of seeing the speaker), that might be an idea worth pursuing. And if you promote as a social event, that might also get the kind of crowd to make it a success. :) - kosboot (talk) 20:02, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-Kosboot-2020-02-26T13:54:00.000Z-Kosboot-2020-02-25T20:02:00.000Z"]}}-->

I am so up for this. I've been dying for a edit-a-thon or some form of collaboration with everyone from WP:Latin music to work on a single top-important article or topic for some time now. I actually was inspired by the idea when I created women in Latin music. I don't think I'll be able to attend the event in Miami though, but I definitely would participate. I also agree with Kosboots on creating a list of articles that are in desperate need of revamping and a list of articles we currently do not have but in a form of importance to the scope of the project. I believe the biggest obstacle we have is participation and having members active and interested in collaborative events like this. Yes, I did create the Spanish-language version of this project some years back. I'll try to communicate any active members in that project. If I knew Portuguese, I would try to do the same with the Portuguese Wikipedia. I forgot to mention this, but the reason I suggested the Frost School of Music is because the LG Cultural Foundation and FSOM had a benefit concert earlier this month with CNCO, a popular Latin American boy band. If they worked together previously, it might be easier for the university to grant us the venue. EDIT 2: AJona1992, I think that's a great idea! I might format it to how you did it with women in Latin music! @Kosboot:, @AJona1992:, @Jaespinoza:, @The Eloquent Peasant:, @Victor Lopes:, @Brankestein:, Would you all take a look at this? I took the list from the last Latin music edit-a-thon and expanded it as well as dividing it into subcategories. Latin music is a huge field because of many subgenres it encompasses. I took the demographics of Miami into factor as well (side note: I live near Orlando, so this is all just assumptions). The majority of Hispanic/Latinxs living in Miami are those of Caribbean-origin, so that's Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Colombians, and Venezuelans. And then there's the generation gap as well. So the most likely fields of Latin music articles that will be under tropical/salsa, Latin pop, and reggaeton/urbano. Especially the latter since it is currently popular with Latinx millenials and zoomers. Of course, I also included the traditional fields for those who are looking into something that's not necessarily contemporary.
Assuming any Portuguese-language speakers were to attend, they will all likely be Brazilian, but I listed some music articles from Portugal for anyone who wants to edit them as well. While the Mexican population in Miami isn't as prevalent as the western side of the US, there exists a Instituto Cultural de México en Miami, so I could ask if they were willing to attend, which could be useful for the Regional Mexican field just like I could with Centro Cultural Brasil USA. kosboot, as the list shows, Latin music is a very diverse field, so I think we could ask each attendee when they enter which part of Latin music they are are interested in. Doesn't even have to be genre-specific either. It could like working on articles for women in Latin music or Afro-Latinx artists. By the way, any of you are allowed to edit the draft on my userspace for any suggestions or improvements. Thanks for the reformating! I'm sorry if I'm the only one commenting - I don't want to monopolize the conversation. It still looks a bit overwhelming to my eyes. I think maybe 2 screens worth is probably more than enough. Think about what a person new to Wikipedia would think (someone who might be shy and timid and scared about editing), and with what they would want to start. Also think about what kinds of articles are easy to edit and can be done in the space of an editathon, and what kinds of articles would take a lot of time due to assimilation of numerous resources. - kosboot (talk) 17:53, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
-->

@Basilisk4u: I think I can help out. I'm good with adding legacy awards, but most of their famous albums were released before Billboard launched the Latin charts in the mid-1980s electronically. Before then, Latin LPs were divided by regions in the US. Most of the tropical/salsa artist I work on tend to be contemporary tropical artists (from '80s to onward). Hi, everyone. There is a current discussion about her sales in her talk page. I tried to give my 2 cents about her sales, explaining him a claim sales for 30 million in her case are unrealistic for an artist who doesn't even appears in system of music certifications, e.g: AMPROFON (MEX), RIAA (USA) etc. And 17 million (or 16 million) are more realistic and aren't "old news" as he pointed out in his edit summary, just because a news reports came from 2013/2016 against the current source from 2018, IMHO. After all, these claim sales came from reliable sources as well. Anyway, you can see the talk page and I would appreciate any kind of participation. The guidelines for using Billboard's Latin music charts has been updated at WP:CHARTS. You may use the Latin Airplay on any article from October 2012 onward regardless of language or genre of the song. In addition, the Latin pop, regional Mexican, tropical, and Latin rhythm may also be added to the song's charts provided that it hasn't ranked on any other Billboard genre charts like the Rhythmic, Dance Club/Electronic Songs, Pop Songs (Mainstream 40). This article has been a one-line stub of questionable notability since 2011. Its one cited source, World music: the rough guide, Volume 2 (by Rough Guides) states here that Paja Brava is "among the more prominent followers of the Los Jairas model". This suggests the group might be notable and the article worth keeping, but in its current state it's not. I can't find any other sources, however, but the time period the group was active in and my lack of Spanish would make finding sources quite difficult in the first place. Could someone have a look and see if there's any coverage of Paja Brava that could be added to the article? Grupo Aymara and Khanata are articles about similar groups with a similar lack of sources. Hey I found this page archive with the official airplay chart in Uruguay before the site stopped. This was the country's official airplay chart and it shows on the side of the page how the chart is calculated. Seems pretty reliable. I think we could use it on Wikipedia. What do you guys think? Erick and @آرمین هویدایی: what do you guys think? I posted about it on Wikipedia talk:Record charts too. These charts do seem reliable and will be very useful on articles for latin artist like Ricky Martin, Luis Miguel, Thalía, Shakira, Chayanne, etc. FanDePopLatino (talk) 00:50, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-Magiciandude-2021-05-20T00:46:00.000Z-FanDePopLatino-2021-05-19T00:50:00.000Z"]}}-->
FanDePopLatino, Apologies for the late reply, I've been busy. Anyhow, I think it's reliable too, but the only thing we need are third party sources that mentions the chart. Hey everyone I was speaking to another wikipedia editor and we have noticed that in wikipedia we lack articles about the different organizations that are affiliated with IFPI and provide charts and certifications for countries in America. We have decided to create the articles ourselves to be able to make it easier to publish charts and certifications from other countries. The other wikipedia user I spoke with is going to work on creating articles for Barbados and Jamaica since those are in English and I thought that we could work on getting the articles made for the Latin American organizations. I am starting with UNIMPRO which is for my native Perú but if anyone is interested in helping out with the other countries, the organizations are found here. I'm inviting Erick, 88marcus, Apoxyomenus, Swe97, and آرمین هویدایی to help out with this if you're interested, but if anyone else sees this post and is interested in taking part in creating articles for any of these organizations that would be great. Thank you and happy editing!!! =] FanDePopLatino (talk) 01:00, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-Swe97-2021-08-09T13:59:00.000Z-FanDePopLatino-2021-08-09T01:00:00.000Z","c-Magiciandude-2021-08-17T15:01:00.000Z-FanDePopLatino-2021-08-09T01:00:00.000Z"]}}-->

Hi everyone. I'm glad that a couple of you guys are interested in this project. No rush on getting everything done. I think taking our time and working together on this we can really put Latin music certifications on the map here on wikipedia. @آرمین هویدایی: I think it's great that you're interested in creating an article for PROFOVI. Remember that Chile also has IFPI Chile which is the original certifying body. PROFOVI came out in 2006 for the digital music era. Hello again everyone. I wanted to let you know that I have already finished UNIMPRO from my native Perú, I have now started working on FONOTICA from Costa Rica and once I finish that I plan on working on ASAP from El Salvador and AGINPRO from Guatemala. If anyone interested in working on any of the organizations (even the ones I've mentioned I planned on doing next) that would be great. I also want to point out that you can make articles for the organizations from Colombia because ASINCOL is now closed. Promúsica Colombia could be useful for charts and ACINPRO might be what's used now for certifications but I'm not sure about that though. Right now there is no International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) for Colombia. Sorry, I'm busy tbh. I don't think I can help due my limited time, but it brought my attention that in English Wikipedia the "official" abbreviation for the Venezuelan certifying body is "APFV". As far I understand, that doesn't even exist but its "AVINPRO" from the Spanish: Asociación Venezolana de Intérpretes y Productores de Fonogramas. I also noticed there is a music organization in the Central America region according to an article from La Nación (Costa Rica) but I don't have the link now. --Apoxyomenus (talk) 14:55, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
-->

@Apoxyomenus: Good catch. I hadn't looked into that because I was looking more at creating articles for the ones that don't have an article yet. I think the problem is that the person who created the article created it with the name in English instead of Castilian and they didn't even translate the name correctly. Hello everyone!
Thanks, Magiciandude for tagging me. FanDePopLatino, I'm amazed you were able to find enough info to create UNIMPRO! In 11 years of researching music charts and certification bodies, I never found any mention of it, even in Billboard scans or IFPI reports. I must've not looked hard enough or in the right places.
One thing I will mention about these certification bodies is that we may need to merge/update with the current bodies. This has already happened before with Canada (Canadian Recording Industry Association --> Music Canada) and Brazil (Associação Brasileira dos Produtores de Discos--> Pro-Música Brasil). --Mαuri’96 (talk · cont) 00:03, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-FanDePopLatino-2021-08-19T07:11:00.000Z-Mauri96-2021-08-19T00:03:00.000Z","c-FanDePopLatino-2021-08-19T07:11:00.000Z-Mauri96-2021-08-19T00:03:00.000Z-1
Mαuri ’96"}}-->

RESOLVED
Consensus passed to cover all Spanish- and Portuguese-language musics regardless of release of origin. No objections were raised.

For a long time, the project's scope has been based on the Latin Grammys definition of "Latin music", which is basically music in Spanish and Portuguese (well and indigenous and dialects from Ibero-America/Peninsula but that is beside the point) and pretty much what Billboard and the RIAA already does. As the creator of this project and based on past discussions, I have supported that decision since both languages are "Latin" and to encompass as many musical styles from Ibero-America and the Iberian Peninsula. There is one thing that irked me about what they say vs what they actually mean. Here's what I'm talking about: This article this article, and even their website mentions covering Spanish- and Portuguese-language music from around the world. Sounds simple right? Well not quite. See, this application to be a member mentions that said record has to be released in Ibero-America.
I had based the project's scope on that application, but I've been reconsidering it and maybe make it less complicated for the scope, which is saying something considering "Latin music" is a complicated term that music journalists can't even agree on. I once e-mailed the Latin Grammys Awards about this and what they pretty much told me: Portuguese-language singers from Africa don't get nominated, not because of the countries they're from, but simply they don't submit products to the Latin Recording Academy. And this goes beyond Lusophone Africa. There's technically nothing stopping a Spanish-language album by a Chinese artist being nominated for a Latin Grammy except for one thing: money. Specifically, you have to pay a membership for a chance to even been considered for a nomination. While we overlap with members of the Latin Recording Academy, the major difference is this project and the Academy is that we are completely voluntarily and nobody here is required to pay to become a member. Basically, the Latin Recording Academy is a business and we are not. This is not a criticism of the Latin Recording Academy by the way, they do a good job of trying to cover as Latin music styles as possible. I even once asked Leila Cobo of Billboard (yes, that Leila Cobo) about this and this is what she said: "But as long as the language is more than 50% Spanish or Portuguese the origin does not matter in terms of our charts". WikiProjects are merely a group of editors who work on a specific topic area. "
So neither Billboard nor the Latin Recording Academy cares whether about the origin of the artist. And to reiterate what I said earlier, the only thing stopping a Spanish/Portuguese-speaking artist that doesn't come from Ibero-America/the Iberian Peninsula is money. In the case of the former, Billboard only tracks sales of "Latin music" (read music in Spanish or Portuguese) in the US and I already mentioned the reason for the latter. So why then, should WikiProject Latin music exclude Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking music just because they don't have the money to distribute their music to Ibero-America/the Iberian Pensinsual? As I stated several times, WikiProjects are not a business, they are completely voluntarily. We're not the ones handing out awards. We don't require compensation to be its own project. Even the new CEO of the Latin Recording Academy stated this in a recent interview with Rolling Stone: "At the end of the day, Latin music has been defined by Spanish and Portuguese, as well as other languages, so I think that should be the driver" (for reference, Abud is referring to the indigenous languages of Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula on the "other languages" part).
To be clear, this discussion is 'only about vocal recordings. Music from Ibero-America/the Iberian Peninsula is still the main focus of the project scope especially when Latin instrumental recordings are involved (that's a whole another league of its own and not the subject of this discussion). The proposal does not add countries to the project scope, but rather, its scope of the project to include more Spanish/Portuguese-speaking artists without regardless to their nationality. So to the active members, what do you say? Should Spanish/Portuguese music have to be released in Ibero-America/the Iberian Peninsula or should this project welcome any music in Spanish and Portuguese released anywhere in the world even if it hasn't been released in the aforementioned regions?
Hope I'm not asking too much for any advice, this is not a subject I feel comfortable tackling myself. Support I agree. This project is about Latin "music", not only Latin artists, so I think it doesn't matter where the singer came from, as long as a song or album is in Spanish or Portuguese, it should be treated as Latin music and in my opinion our project should welcome those releases, regardless to their nationality. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 14:33, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
-->

Support. We basically have to stick to what sources say, so using your own example, if a Chinese artist releases an album containing Spanish-language music and sources mention that it contains elements of Latin music, that should be enough.
Interestingly enough, I'm able to provide a very recent example: Swedish metal band Diablo Swing Orchestra has just released a song entirely in Spanish and heavily inspired by Mexican music ("Celebremos lo Inevitable"); if that song ever received an article here, I would definitely not oppose having it tagged with our banner. I recently created a stub for Tito Matos, who died recently. The article was just tagged for deletion. He’s clearly notable, his New York Times obituary demonstrates that. Greetings everyone, I have decided to create a draft to propose a edithon competition on Latin music-related articles. The competition mirrors Wiki Cup with awards given out to participants and top scorers. Now that the coronavirus has been settling down, let's have a summer-long competition with members of WikiProject Latin music and anyone else who is interested. Many, many, many times Magiciandude and I have proposed meet-ups and edithons with the first and only edithon done back in 2013. We need willing participants in order to successfully get this competition started. Dropdown your questions, concerns, and proposals, and let's discuss them. I am pinging active members on here and those who participated in a edithon proposal made by Magiciandude two years ago: @Basilisk4u:, @Jaespinoza:, @Victor Lopes:, @Mauri96:,@DivaKnockouts:, @Brankestein:, @Bryan McLaude:, @Fundude99:, @Neodop:, @Pdebee:, @The Eloquent Peasant:, @FanDePopLatino:, @Phosphor:, @Saviourofthe:, @Kosboot:, @Feisworld:, @GJFBR:, @JuliánLeiva66:, @Guacamayonesa:, @GeorgeSeaks:, @Digiulio8:, @Miskito89:, @TanookiKoopa:, @BoriquaZurdo:, @PaulYordan:, @Dominicansinhistory:, @Chbe113:, @Saviourofthe:, @Franlm14:. – jona✉20:00, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-Victor_Lopes-2022-04-08T16:42:00.000Z-AJona1992-2022-04-07T20:00:00.000Z","c-Bryan_McLaude-2022-04-09T03:49:00.000Z-AJona1992-2022-04-07T20:00:00.000Z","c-PaulYordan-2022-04-26T04:17:00.000Z-AJona1992-2022-04-07T20:00:00.000Z","c-JuliánLeiva66-2022-04-29T02:28:00.000Z-AJona1992-2022-04-07T20:00:00.000Z
jona"}}-->

(Victor) Essentially, yes. I made the draft for the competition a bit more inclusive than just creating and expanding on Latin music articles but if we can't find one or two volunteers to assess every submission and award the appropriate points, then it'll be better to just focus on creation and expansion efforts as it'll be easier for assessing and awarding. (Javier) That's great, any contributions to the competition is appreciated. – jona✉19:44, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-FanDePopLatino-2022-04-09T03:40:00.000Z-AJona1992-2022-04-08T19:44:00.000Z
jona"}}-->

I was hoping to start this edit a thon/competition for May 1 to run through September 1. But with May just a few days away and very little to no input from members of this project, I think it'll be necessary to move the competition to sometime in May or in June. The draft of the compeition is viewable, so if you are interested please take your time to look over it and provide suggestions (i.e., lower or higher points for certain contributions, more rewards, more emphasis on a topic, etc.) I'll go ahead and begin the sign-ups, if not enough participants are interested, I'll just archive this and wait for another time when more people are available or interested. Hi Apoxyomenus! Sounds like a good idea, just a question on the term "Latin". Are you referring to all countries whose main language derives from Latin, Latin America, or regions that the music industry classifies as "Latin"? Me personally, I would name it to "List of best-selling albums in Ibero-America" and maybe even include an overall best-selling list on top in addition to the countries. Is not my intention as a whole list, because List of best-selling albums by country already exists. I mean, Latin countries such as those beyond that have a space like Argentina, Brazil, Chile or Mexico and depends how much is collected from a country; if not, would be fit an inclusion in the list of best-selling albums by country. --Apoxyomenus (talk) 20:50, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
-->
Geovanny Polanco was gutted as "unsourced" in 2019 and tagged as a stub recently - I've just stub-sorted it and added a new source (and also added him to the Polanco (surname) page, and fixed up the disambigatuion page at Polanco, and made redirects from the 5 variant spellings of his name). @Apoxyomenus Yeah, our draft of best-selling Latin music artists isn't even done, so I don't see why a separate article for female Latin artists should exist at the moment. @Erick I also agree. I agree that it should be moved to draft space, it is unclear what @AlexanderShakifan29: defines as "Latin" since Laundry Service is not a Latin album nor are most of her singles mentioned on this list. I also doubt that Jennifer Lopez sold 65 million units on one Spanish album she has ever made to date. Looking at the table, Alexander has pointed out that Lopez had 8 studio albums, last time I checked J.Lo isn't "a Latin album". Since Alexander has included Lopez, I wonder why he failed to mention J.Lo's 8 million worldwide sales in the section of "Best-selling female Latin albums worldwide" since he did so with Shakira? With Alexander's past contributions, it seems as though his goal is to create articles on Wikipedia with the sole purpose of calling Shakira the best at everything, ignoring what experts define the terms he likes to use, and populate them with dubious and questionable claims. Heck, I don't even see the point of it having its own article. Wouldn't just be a copy of "List of best-selling Latin music artists" albeit with just female artists? Hello all. I've been working on an article for renowned singer/actor Pedro Ruy-Blas. It has been declined for lack of primary sources. The primary source materials are in Spanish. I don't speak Spanish. I am hoping some interested editors from this project would like to pitch in to expand the article from its current stub status and get it out of draft purgatory. The Spanish language article on Pedro can be found here: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Ruy-Blas, while international sources are Google-able. I'll continue to work on it. Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.
No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.
However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present. Rationale: I could find no reviews for the albums, and the albums appears to be notable only because of the telenovelas. Thus, the albums do not meet the relevant notability guideline for albums (Per the guideline: "An album requires its own notability, and that notability is not inherited and requires independent evidence.").
There is a fairly in-depth article on the es:Conservatorio Nacional de Música (Guatemala) on the Spanish language wikipedia. If someone has the language skills to translate this to the English wiki, or write something of their own it would make a good addition to the English wikipedia's coverage of both Guatemala and the music of Latin America.4meter4 (talk) 19:18, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
-->

Since AMPROFON is complete trash in terms of keeping archives, it's a pain to find sources for a song's peak position. There's apparently an archive on El Siglo de Torreón's website that lists the top ten songs (or, in the case of Buenos Aires, albums) of that particular week, but I can't seem to navigate it (it's basically a PDF). Here's an example. I've been putting unnecessary amounts of time into this, and I really need some help, as it has chart data for a lot of Latin American countries, and would make articles much more complete.

Earlier this year, WikiProject Albums had a discussion and removed the importance assessment. A few WikiProjects have follow suit while others are keeping it. I can see both sides of the argument on whether to keep it or remove it. I personally myself do not care if we keep it or not. I highly suggest looking at the discussion on the albums project page before deciding if we should keep it or remove it. Any project or goal has its priorities, both high and low, in relation to its objectives. Therefore, I can understand why it was initially included in wikiprojects. However, rating an article's importance is somewhat subjective. What one person considers important, another may not. This subjectivity is evident in how some users may focus their efforts on a specific artist, whom they personally deem as the best. However, who I consider the best may not align with others' opinions, and vice-versa. To move away from personal and subjective judgments when rating articles, we could rely on rankings from reliable sources. Though, even reputable rankings like Rolling Stone's recent list of the best musicians of all time face criticism when Celine Dion was omitted. In order to maintain neutrality, removing the importance assessment would help that, though it has never been an issue, so I'm cool with whichever outcome. – jona✉14:49, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-آرمین_هویدایی-20230610091400-AJona1992-20230608144900
jona"}}-->
In my opinion, importance assessment can be helpful for our project, as it can give us a categorized to-do-list and suggests priorities. And to adress the issue that Jona mentioned, we can think of a program to measure the importance, by considering the artist/album/song's commercial success, awards, and media coverage. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 09:14, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
-->

I went to the page for El Tiempo Es Oror for a random copyedit and while I found run-on sentences, I also found a large section bordering on advertisement for the album. This section included what appeared to be large swatches of personal research and judgement statements on the music.
I was wondering if someone more experienced then I in this field could help with this article. Nopem, a media research firm compiled music charts in Brazil, although didn't cover 100% of the market which reminds me other firms like NielsenBook (only 70% of coverage). Hi everyone, we had previously discussed both above and here about using these charts that have rank the songs that received the most airplay in both Argentina and Uruguay. Several of us believe that the charts are reliable but we just needed a mention of them from a third party source (newspaper, another reliable website, etc.) before we could start using them. I've found this website which does mention the Argentina chart and even has a link as well as this one which has a link to show the same chart and you can verify that it's the same by comparison here and here. I can try to keep finding more but Erick, Markus WikiEditor, Apoxyomenus, Swe97, and آرمین هویدایی what do you guys think? Might it be okay to start using them? Hi everyone, I've recently been working on adding sources to the list of number one singles in Perú from the 1960s. I completed 1963 but I could use some help with completing 1962, 1964, 1965, and 1966 if anyone has time and is interested. The sources are found in archives of Billboard magazine in their "Hits of the World" section. Today I came across the new flamenco article, which is sadly very poorly written. Not being an SME, I don't even know where to start fixing it, I think it may need rewriting. If any SME comes across this message and has the time, this article could use some love.
