La serpiente fue descubierta en el año 2002 en el noroeste de los Montes Cardamomos o Montes Krâvanh (en jemerChuor Phnom Krâvanh), en la Provincia de Pursat, concretamente en el área de Phnom Samkos, (Camboya), por los investigadores Daltry & Wüster.
