Free State (sesotho: freistata, afrikaans: Vrystaat, xhosa: iFreyistata, setswana: Foreistata, zulu: iFuleyisitata) er ein landslutur í Suðurafrika.
Í norðri hevur Free State mark við North West og Gauteng, í ein landnyrðing við Mpumalanga, í eystri við KwaZulu-Natal, í ein landsynning við Lesotho, í suðri við Eastern Cape og í vestri við Northern Cape.
Bloemfontein er høvuðsstaður í landslutinum og størstu býir eru Bloemfontein, Welkom og Kroonstad. 64,2 % av fólkunum tosa sesotho, 12,7 % afrikaans, 7,5% xhosa, 5,2 % tswana, 4,4 % zulu og 2,9 % enskt.
Landsluturin varð stovnaður í 1994. Táverandi landsluturin Orange Free State, heimlandið QwaQwa og partar av heimlandinum Boputhatswana vórðu samanlagdir til tann núverandi landslutin sum í juni 1995 fekk tað navnið Free State.[2]
