Https varð tiltrongd í samband við gjald á alnetinum t.d. við netbanka, men verður nú brúkt í nærum øllum vev-samskifti á alnetinum. Hetta trygga samskiftið verður vanliga frámerk við einum heingilási framman fyri heimasíðubústaðin (URL'in).
