Yo te arete li nan mwa novanm 1980 epi li te pase senk (5) jou nan prizon anvan li te refize an Ayiti sou 5 desanm 1980, ansanm avèk jounalis parèy li yo : Marcus Garcia, Elsie Etheart, Gregory Eugene ak Jean Dominique.
Pierre Clitandre avèk fanmi li ale nan Nouyòk. Ant 1984 ak 1986, Pierre Clitandre ak Eddy Arnold Jean, yon doktè ak kritik literè dirije Haïti Demain Hebdo, yon jounal kont Duvalier, popilè nan dyaspora Nouyòk.
