- Het exarchaat Afrika wordt door de Arabieren veroverd. Carthago wordt definitief ingenomen en het Byzantijnse territorium gereduceerd tot een fractie.

- Keizerin Wu Zetian begint in het Chinese Rijk met een christenvervolging, die een zware slag toebrengt aan de Nestoriaanse Kerk. (waarschijnlijke datum)
