George Halcott Chadwick (Catskill, 27 mei 1876 - Selkirk, 15 augustus 1953) was een Amerikaans geoloog. Chadwick bracht de geologie van het Catskillgebergte in de Appalachen van New York in kaart.[2]
Chadwick studeerde tot 1923 aan de University of Rochester. Daarna werkte hij in de exploratie van olie en gas in Oklahoma. Vanaf 1926 werkte hij voor de topografische en geologische dienst van New York en Pennsylvania. Hij is vooral bekend als bedenker van een tweedeling van de geologische tijdschaal in de eonen Fanerozoïcum (tijd van "zichtbaar leven") en Cryptozoïcum (tijd van "verborgen leven" - dit komt overeen met het Precambrium).[3]
