Homotonie
Homotonie of homotoniteit is een vegetatiekundig begrip waarmee wordt bedoeld dat synoptische tabellen van een syntaxon of eenheden uit lokale vegetatietypen weinig interne differentiatie hebben. Tabellen waarbij hiervan sprake is noemt men homotone tabellen. Des te hoger het aantal constante taxa, des te homotoner een eenheid is. Homotone tabellen zijn bruikbaar als typetabel. Het tegenovergestelde van homotonie is heterotonie.
De term homotonie werd ingevoerd ter onderscheiding van de term 'homogeniteit', die betrekking heeft op concrete begroeiingen en concrete proefvlakken.[1]
