Information Management System
Information Management System, afgekort tot IMS, is een hiërarchisch databasesysteem van IBM. Het is een transactie- (IMS-DC) en databaseserver (IMS-DB) voor de 390-serie van IBM. IBM heeft IMS in de jaren 60 voor de NASA ontwikkeld, in het bijzonder voor de Saturnus V-raket van het Apolloprogramma. IMS kenmerkt zich door hoge prestaties, al is de flexibiliteit door de netwerkopzet minder dan bij relationele databasesystemen. De bijbehorende taal wordt DL/1 genoemd.
