LinuxChix was een non-profitorganisatie en gemeenschap, gericht op vrouwen die gebruikmaken van Linux. De organisatie werd in 1999 opgericht door Deb Richardson, die als auteur en webmaster aan The Puffin Group verbonden was.[1]
LinuxChix was een internationale groep van gebruikers en ontwikkelaars van vrije software, opgericht met als doel vrouwen in de Linux-gemeenschap te ondersteunen en vrouwelijke Linuxgebruikers elkaar te laten ontmoeten. De organisatie was onderverdeeld in zogenaamde chapters, zodat ieder onderdeel kon doen wat te pas kwam.[2]
LinuxChix was sinds 1999 voortdurend actief en de mailinglijsten hebben wereldwijd meer dan duizend leden aangetrokken.[3] Dit was tevens de meestgebruikte manier van communiceren binnen de organisatie. Er is in 2025 besloten met de activiteiten te stoppen.[4]
