Het Lopingien is in de geologische tijdschaal het laatste tijdvak of de bovenste serie van het Perm, die duurde van 259,9 ± 0,4 tot 252,2 ± 0,5 Ma.[2] Het Lopingien volgt op het Guadalupien en wordt gevolgd door het Vroeg-Trias of Onder-Trias. Het wordt opgedeeld in twee tijdsnedes of etages, Wuchiapingien en Changhsingien.

Het Lopingien was een tijdvak met een extreem continentaal klimaat met grote droogte. In het noordwesten van Europa werd het bovenste deel van de Zechstein Groep gevormd, dat gekenmerkt wordt door evaporieten.
