Pitstop II is een Amerikaans autoracespel uit 1984, ontwikkeld en uitgegeven door Epyx. Het spel is vooral bekend op de Commodore 64 en was een van de eerste racegames met een gesplitst scherm voor twee spelers. Het combineert realistische race-elementen met pitstop-strategie.[1]

Gameplay

De speler bestuurt een Formule 1-achtige racewagen op zes verschillende circuits. Kenmerkend is het gesplitste scherm: twee spelers kunnen tegelijk racen (of één speler tegen de computer).

Tijdens de race moet je niet alleen inhalen en positie houden, maar ook letten op bandenslijtage en brandstofverbruik. Als de banden versleten raken of de brandstofvoorraad te laag wordt, moet je een pitstop maken. In de pitstop kun je zelf de banden wisselen en tanken door met een kruisje over de crewleden te bewegen. Goede pitstops zijn cruciaal om te winnen.
