De preimot (Acrolepiopsis assectella), is een vlinder uit de familie van de parelmotten (Glyphipterigidae). De spanwijdte van deze microvlinder bedraagt ongeveer 12 millimeter.
Verspreiding
De soort komt in vrijwel geheel Europa voor en verder in Algerije, Siberië en Kirgizië. De preimot heeft als exoot Noord-Amerika bereikt.
Voorkomen in Nederland en België
De preimot is in Nederland en in België een algemene soort.
Leefwijze
In het noordelijk deel van zijn leefgebied kent de soort twee generaties die vliegen van juni tot augustus en van oktober tot maart. In Frankrijk heeft de preimot jaarlijks drie tot vijf generaties en in Algerije acht. De soort overwintert als pop of als imago.

De rups van de preimot leeft in de stengels of bladeren van look-soorten (Allium), zoals prei (Allium ampeloprasum), sjalot (Allium ascalonicum), ui (Allium cepa), grof bieslook (Allium fistulosum), Allium lusitanicum, Allium porrum, knoflook (Allium sativum) en bieslook (Allium schoenoprasum). De soort kan zich tot plaaginsect ontwikkelen.
