Rating
Rating (of 'waardebepaling') is de classificatie van zaken in verschillende categorieën aan de hand van vooraf gestelde criteria.
Rating kan plaatsvinden naar plaats (bijvoorbeeld van de stand van sporters bij een kampioenschap), gewicht, leeftijd of een andere maatstaf. Voor films zijn er ratings in categorieën van kijkers (kinderen, pubers, volwassenen enz.) of genres. Consumentenorganisaties geven aan de hand hiervan adviezen en richtlijnen uit voor de meest gepaste wijze van vertoning. Deze beoordeling is vaak cultureel bepaald en kan per land sterk verschillen.
