System32 is een systeemmap binnen het Windows-systeem. Het bevat bijna alle programma's, waaronder ook de setup van Windows. Voor de introductie van System32 stonden alle programma's in de Windows-map, inclusief de setup.

In de 9x (95 en 98)-versies van Windows bevatte de map System32 32 bits-applicaties, maar sinds Microsoft Neptune (wat later Windows XP werd) bevat de map System32 64 bits-applicaties, en is er een secondaire map toegevoegd die SysWOW64 heet, deze bevat 32 bit-applicaties.

De Windows Shell wordt grotendeels opgeslagen in System32, onder andere SHELL32.DLL en imageres.dll zijn daar onderdeel van. Men kan deze tegenkomen als men het pictogram van een snelkoppeling verandert.
