De TOPLYGA is de hoogste voetbalcompetitie in Litouwen die door de Litouwse voetbalbond wordt georganiseerd.
Geschiedenis
De competitie werd in 1990, na de hernieuwde onafhankelijkheid, opgericht in opvolging van de competitie in de SSR Litouwen. Van 1922 tot 1939 werd er ook competitievoetbal in het toen onafhankelijke Litouwen gespeeld.

Opzet
Sinds 2008 spelen er afwisselend acht tot twaalf teams in de competitie. In 2011 werd er uitgebreid naar twaalf teams, maar dat format hield het slechts één seizoen vol. Veel clubs kunnen niet voldoen aan de zware licentie-eisen en trekken zich soms later terug uit de competitie of de licentieaanvraag. De kampioen van de A Lyga plaatst zich voor de (voorronden van de) Champions League, de nummers twee en drie nemen, samen met de bekerwinnaar, deel aan de (voorronden van de) Conference League. Er is degradatie mogelijk naar de 1 Lyga.
Europa
In 2022 werd FK Žalgiris de eerste Litouwse club ooit die zich plaatste voor de groepsfase van een Europees toernooi. Van de drie Baltische staten was Litouwen het laatste land dat ooit een vertegenwoordiger had in een Europese groepsfase.
