The Beginning is het zesde studioalbum van de Amerikaanse hiphop/house-band The Black Eyed Peas, uitgebracht op 26 november 2010.
Achtergrondinformatie
Op het album zet de band het electropop- en dancegeluid van voorganger The E.N.D. voort. De teksten zijn veelal vrolijk en gaan over feesten en uitgaan, terwijl het album ook serieuzere nummers bevat die gaan over de liefde. Met de eerste single The Time (Dirty Bit), een danceplaat gebaseerd op (I've Had) The Time of My Life van Bill Medley en Jennifer Warnes, werd een grote internationale hit gescoord. Het bereikte de nummer 4 in de Nederlandse Top 40 en werd een nummer 1-hit in de Vlaamse Ultratop 50. Ook opvolger Just Can't Get Enough werd een hit, net als de derde single Don't Stop the Party. Whenever was als laatste single minder succesvol en wist geen Nederlandse hitparades te behalen.
Hoewel het album drie hits opleverde, werd het album niet bepaald positief onthaald door muziekcritici. Ook veel fans waren teleurgesteld in het album. Toch kende het album succes in de Amerikaanse Billboard 200, waar het de 6e positie bereikte. In de Nederlandse Album Top 100 was het met een 34e positie daarentegen minder succesvol, terwijl het in de Vlaamse Ultratop 200 wel weer een succes was met een 6e positie.
Om het album te promoten, gingen The Black Eyed Peas op tournee. Tijdens de The Beginning Massive Stadium Tour werd op 3 juli 2011 Rock Werchter aangedaan.
