De relatie van Leo en Anne is een eindeloze cyclus van verlangen en scheiding, intimiteit en afstand en ze kunnen elkaar niet loslaten. Door de kamers echoot Ava's stem door de tijd heen en brengt naar de oppervlakte wat blijft bestaan en wat niet langer kan worden tegengehouden.

Productie

The Echo Chamber werd geproduceerd door Nicola Giuliano, Francesca Cima, Carlotta Calori en Viola Prestieri voor Indigo Film en Rai Cinema in coproductie met Jacques-Henri Bronckart en Tatjana Kozar voor het Belgische Versus Production. De film werd ondersteund door het Italiaanse Ministerie van Cultuur – Fonds voor de Ontwikkeling van Investeringen in Film en Audiovisuele Werken, het Lazio Cinema International Avviso Pubblico (PR FESR 2021-2027) van de regio Lazio, Creative Europe MEDIA, Paradise City Sales, Be TV, Proximus en O'Brother Distribution. Het was het laatste scenario van Bernardo Bertolucci voor zijn overlijden in 2018 en werd mede geschreven door Ilaria Bernardini en Ludovica Rampoldi.[2]

Filmopnames

De filmopnames vonden eind 2025 plaats met Diego García als cameraman.[2]

Muziek

De muziek werd gecomponeerd door de Franse componist Clément Ducol, die onder andere in 2024 verantwoordelijk was voor de soundtrack van Emilia Pérez.[3]

Release

The Echo Chamber zal in september 2026 in première gaan op het Filmfestival van Venetië in de competitie voor de Gouden Leeuw.[4] De film zal naar verwachting op 10 september 2026 in première gaan in de Italiaanse bioscopen.[2]
